About the Team

Welcome to the life of Kerry and Tom.

How we met – 17th June 2023

Kerry was away celebrating her mums birthday in the Lakes, Tom was spending the day with one of his friends hiking in the Lakes.

Tom’s friend randomly messaged him asking if they could go hiking after not seeing each other for a long time. They agreed a date and a hike.

Kerry and her mum decided to do Haystacks over Fairfield on the Saturday and complete the other on the Sunday.

Tom was running late, Kerry was running late and took the route the wrong way. All of this was just a way for the universe to bring the two together!

Meeting on Fleetwith Pike, coming across each other and doing the usual stop and say hello for a minute while really taking a breather turned into doing the whole hike together and doing nothing but talking. It was down to Kerry’s mum asking about a Komoot follow and Tom’s friend saying he had Instagram to bring us together. This is where I should mention that Tom had said to his friend before we met, if we see any pretty girls today, remind me to hand my Instagram out.

We got to visit Wainwright’s resting place together, which is a big thing for us hikers and while at the tarn of the ashes we got to feed ducklings.

It was a very memorable way to meet and one we both tressure.

Since then we have been together and hiking has become an even bigger passion in our lives, that is what brings us here to our blog and YouTube channel.

Enjoy our content, find us across all social medias, feel free to get in touch and most of all, we hope to see you on the mountains!

Why choose to hike I hear you say

Hiking is more than just a leisure activity; it’s an adventure that invites individuals of all ages to explore the natural world, challenge their physical limits, and find solace away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Whether you are navigating through the rugged terrains of mountainous landscapes or meandering along serene forest paths, hiking offers an unparalleled opportunity to connect with nature, engage in physical exercise, and experience personal growth.

One of the most compelling reasons to lace up those hiking boots and hit the trails is the profound health benefits it offers. Hiking is a powerful cardio workout that can improve your heart health, boost bone density, decrease the risk of certain respiratory problems, and aid in weight management. But the benefits of hiking extend beyond the physical realm. It is also a great way to improve mental health; the act of walking in nature has been shown to reduce stress levels, combat symptoms of anxiety and depression, and enhance mood. The tranquillity of natural settings, combined with the physical exertion of hiking, stimulates the production of endorphins, promoting a state of well-being and happiness.

Moreover, hiking is a versatile activity that fosters community and personal fulfilment. It can be a solitary journey, offering a peaceful escape for reflection and meditation. Alternatively, it can be a social endeavour, providing a way to strengthen bonds with family and friends or to make new acquaintances with fellow nature enthusiasts. The trails offer endless opportunities for discovery and learning, from identifying various flora and fauna to understanding the geological and historical significance of the landscape. Each hike is a unique story, a personal achievement, and a step closer to understanding the natural world and our place within it.

In conclusion, hiking is an enriching experience that nurtures the body, mind, and soul. It encourages us to step outside our comfort zones, to appreciate the beauty and complexity of the natural environment, and to cultivate a deeper connection with ourselves and with others. So, the next time you find yourself yearning for adventure or seeking a respite from the daily grind, remember that the trails are calling. Embrace the journey, and discover the many gifts that hiking has to offer.
